It is a footstool first: piped edge, turned oak legs on concealed supports with plastic glides, and a cushion built from a supportive foam core under a soft fibre topper. It also works as an occasional seat or a tray stand, and at W84 x D64 x H49.5cm it tucks away when it is doing neither.

Dearle designed Blackthorn in 1892, blossom sprays over knotted branches with the archive's characteristic mottled print texture. The colourway is blue-grey with cream flowers, rust and burnt-orange accents and navy linework, in a quality linen-blend fabric. The oak legs stop the darker ground from weighing the piece down.
