Why Comfort Ratings Matter

There's no such thing as the "best" comfort level.

Whether you're after a soft sofa you can sink into after a long day, a firm sofa that keeps you upright, or something balanced in the middle, the right choice depends entirely on how you live. Our five-level comfort scale removes the guesswork.

The Five Comfort Levels

What each rating means

Level 1: Cloud Soft

Extra soft

The softest seat in our range. Deep cushioning that wraps around you - ideal if you want to fully unwind. Best for lounging rather than long working sessions. Model 13.

Level 2: Sink-In Soft

Soft

Generously cushioned with a gentle give. Soft enough to feel indulgent, firm enough to support good posture. A popular choice for TV rooms and open-plan living spaces. Models 06, 15.

Level 3: Balanced

Medium

Our most popular rating. A comfort sofa that works for everyone — soft enough for evenings in, structured enough for everyday use. The all-rounder of the range. Models 01, 02*, 03, 10* (*Sofa bed models: firm when converted).

Level 4: Supportive

Medium-firm

A structured seat with a confident feel. Holds its shape well over time. Good for those who prefer a more upright, back-friendly sit. Models 05, 11.

Level 5: Firm & Supportive

Firm

A firm sofa that doesn't give much. Exceptional durability and posture support - a favourite for busy households and those who need back support. Models 04, 08, 12, 16.

How to Choose

Which comfort level is right for you?

If you love to lounge
Go for Cloud Soft or Sink-In Soft. These are the sofas you sink into - great for film nights, napping, and long evenings in.

If you want something for everyone
Balanced (medium) is our most popular comfort rating - and for good reason. It suits most sitting styles, works morning to midnight, and holds up well in busy households.

If you have back pain or posture concerns

A firm sofa tends to offer better lumbar support than a soft one. Consider Supportive (medium-firm) or Firm & Supportive if you spend long periods seated or need more structure under your back.

Not sure? Try before you decide
Visit one of our showrooms to sit on the models in person. If you can't make it in, our 100-night home trial means you can test your sofa in your own space — no guesswork required.
