Structure and softness sit side by side on the Bed 05: a squared frame, and an upholstered back to rest against. The padded headboard is set into solid oak and finished with delicate fabric straps and brass detailing and behind with white oak veneer slats, matching the veneered rails and footboard above solid oak feet. The mattress is embedded rather than perched, with the rails above the slat line, and rounded corners running through the headboard frame and legs. The bed rests on an engineered wood slat system, and assembly is straightforward with two pairs of hands and the supplied hardware. Packaging gets an in-house transit test, and every Bed 05 is rigorously tested for strength, durability and safety.

A Velvet Vine pad upholsters the headboard, a deep, dark forest green with a plush, light-catching surface. Finished in oak, the frame shows the natural grain of the timber, which varies a little from bed to bed. Delivery is in two boxes, simpler to move through the house. A 150 x 200cm mattress is the right fit for the recess.

Keep Velvet Vine looking its best with a soft brush attachment and a lightly damp cloth. Blot spills first, follow with a clean cloth, water and mild soap, then let the area dry naturally. Direct sun should be avoided to protect the depth of colour. Washing, bleaching and tumble drying are all ruled out on the care label; a gentle dry clean is the way.
