A modular sectional sofa is created by using several individual pieces that can be rearranged to suit any space, large or small. The pieces can be put together without the use of additional tools or screws, too, meaning you have a world of opportunities to create the perfect size and shape to suit your living room needs.

Currently we offer two modular sofas in our line-up, the Model 03 and Model 06. We’ve developed two alternative designs which can be tailored to everyone’s homes. In this guide, we’ll go through the differences between them, so you can choose which one is right for you and your space.

Model 03

Style

Our first modular sofa we introduced, Model 03, is the epitome of modern living. This is one of our most contemporary designs with it’s boxy appearance, and has become one of our most-loved products amongst customers.

The Inspiration

“The initial inspiration behind Model 03 was to create a low lounge seater with a relaxed, loungy vibe… almost bohemian. The more ruffles the better. From a design perspective, the original intention was for the sofa’s lines to be loose, which exaggerates the relaxed feel and comfiness of the sofa.

The flange edge detailing was then an important component to Model 03’s aesthetic. In comparison to the straight, clean and classic look of Model 02’s piping, the flange brings a totally different vibe, one of relaxation, due in part to its wavy look. We worked hard to get the flange detail correct, trialling wide, narrow, big, thin etc. In the end we went with a solution which gave the right balance between looseness and style.” - John, Model 03 Designer.

Model 06

Style

The Model 06 is one of our comfiest styles with super size back and arm cushions. Whilst the Model 03 offers a modern, low-seating style, Model 06 has a timeless, tailored look that references Italian design, with deep proportions and refined detailing. This style is one of the Swyft team’s favourites and named the most comfortable of all the models.

The Inspiration

"In terms of style, we knew from the start that the Model 06 collection would have a large focus on cushions. With this in mind, we tried to make it timeless and tailored so that it could work with many different styles. Referencing Italian design, the back and arms come with slim profiles, deep proportions and refined detailing. To give the sofa a flowing and loose feel, reminiscent of comfort, there’s three centimetres of extra fabric on the back and side cushions as well as on the back and arms. 

In part, we referenced country style sofas, with a loose look and deep, generous proportions. However, we wanted to add a contemporary element to the styling; the result being a good hybrid between the clean, minimal look, seen throughout the rest of the collection, and an envelopment of comfort.
