4 Interior Trends for Spring/Summer 2025

What’s hot in home decor for spring and summer 2025? Here, Interior Designer and our Head of Creative, Kelly Collins, shares her top interior trends for the brighter months ahead…

Biophilic Design
Biophilic Design is inspired by nature - but of course, nature looks very different in summer than it does in winter.
For a spring/summer take on this trend, lean into warm, natural colours like terracotta and sand, and pair them with those classic summery fabrics like linen and jute. For accessories, it’s less about flowers (a go-to for spring) and more about organic shapes. We’re seeing softer edges, lots of textures and lived-in layering: Moving away from this hard-edged, ultra-minimalist aesthetic, into something that feels way more comfortable.
Kelly says: “The best thing about spring and summer is how much time we all spend outside. Biophilic design is about bringing that feeling of the outdoors in.”

Summer Cottage
Cottagecore has been a big hit in recent years, but just like Biophilic Design, it can lend itself to different seasons. For some, Cottagecore is about creating cosy spaces where you’d curl up next to the fire on a stormy night. But the Summer Cottage trend is much lighter.
Where in 2024, we saw lots of bright, primary colours being used in cottage-inspired interiors (e.g. bold reds paired with light blues) in 2025, the Summer Cottage trend is much softer on the eye.
We’re seeing toned-down, muted palettes and faded traditional rugs. For fabrics, gingham still makes an appearance, but in easy greens and neutral tones, which go perfectly with nature-inspired patterns (like those from William Morris).
Kelly says: “The Summer Cottage trend almost feels like an amalgamation of Cottagecore and Biophilic Design. They’re not exactly the same - Summer Cottage is definitely more quaint than Biophilic Design on its own - but there’s this real, lived-in feel to both of them that I absolutely love.”

Serene Hues
Kelly says: “In our 2025 colour report, I noted that Serene Hues would be a major trend this year, especially for spring and summer.”
The term ‘Serene Hues’ was coined by Pinterest back in late 2024 - and refers to a collection of soft, muted colours like sage greens, calm blues and powdery lilacs.
What’s really interesting is that it marks a shift away from the bold colours we’ve seen in recent years (e.g. pops of red) but also a shift away from full neutral palettes (e.g. grey and beige). These Serene Hues bring a relaxing feel to any room - helping us create calm, tranquil spaces in our homes.

Subtle Lighting
For a few years, statement lighting was a big trend (e.g. glitzy brass bases, copper-lined shades, novelty lamps). In 2025, we’re moving away from that, in favour of more understated lighting options.
Think subtle little ball lights, or a modern lamp base paired with a ruched fabric lampshade. Thanks to the growing popularity of battery-powered lighting, we’re also going to see a massive change in where we place our lamps. No longer tethered to a socket, expect pockets of light in unexpected places, like on a bookshelf, in the kitchen or outside on the garden table.
Kelly says: “In the brighter months, we don’t rely on our indoor lighting as much as we do in winter. We’re not illuminating the room, but, creating these little pockets of light to create a mood and echo that hazy evening light we see outside”.
If there’s one thing to take away from our spring/summer 2025 trends, it’s this: Don’t strive for show home perfection, where everything has to be perfectly symmetrical. Instead, create a home that feels comfortably lived in.
