7 Interior Design Trend Predictions for 2025

What are the trending colours in 2025 for interior design? Is maximalism here to stay? Let us, and our Interior Designer Kelly Collins, take you through the biggest home decor trends we’ll be seeing in 2025.

1. Biophilic Design

Bringing the outdoors in remains a top priority for interior design in 2025. Colours, patterns and textures will echo those that we find in nature. Previously, bright green house plants took centre stage, but going into this year, designers are seeking inspiration from wood, stone, earth and other organic forms.

Kelly says: “This nature-inspired approach in a room not only lifts your mood and evokes a sense of calm, but also promotes overall well-being.”

2. Dark and Earthy Tones

The biophilic trend will heavily influence the colour palettes we see in 2025. Think deep, murky greens and warm browns. Brown, in particular, will continue to grow in popularity. The key to using this colour effectively is to mix various brown tones while keeping within a warm palette—like matte chocolate walls with raw wood coffee tables and light brown linen curtains.

Kelly says: “We’ve seen these dark, earthy hues dominate throughout 2024, and I don’t expect them to fade anytime soon. They bring a cosy, inviting warmth to spaces—something we’re all striving for in our homes.”

3. Daring Pairings

2024’s maximalism had a ‘country chic’ influence, with gingham curtains, florals and ticking stripes. 2025’s maximalism, however, thrives on unexpected combinations that shouldn’t work (yet somehow do). Pair modern geometric rugs with vintage furniture. Or Art Deco mirrors with Victorian prints. This year is about breaking all the design rules.

Kelly says: “Maximalism is a style that celebrates abundance, creativity, and individuality—creating spaces that feel curated, rich, and deeply personal.”

4. Serene Hues

In 2024, Pinterest predicted that ‘Serene Hues’, including calm greens, soft blues and powdery lilacs, would shape our end-of-year decor. We see this trend continuing into 2025. These muted versions of stronger colours are going to be used in place of standard neutral palettes (because just like denim, light blue complements everything).

Kelly Says: “The appeal of these ‘Serene Hues’ lies in their ability to create peaceful, uplifting environments—a perfect antidote to the stresses of daily life.”

5. Waved Edges

In 2025, interiors will move further away from the clean, straight lines that have dominated in recent years.  We’ll see scalloped edges on furniture, curved sofas, arched doorways, and rounded decor accents—all adding a playful, whimsical feel to interiors.

Kelly says: “Curved edges and flowing forms create a sense of movement and harmony, making rooms feel more relaxed and less rigid.”

6. Mixed Metals

Due to many factors—including fashion trends and the resurgence of mid-century Italian furniture—chrome was huge in 2024. It’s not going anywhere, but this year, we see interior designers mixing brass and chrome together to create an interesting warm and cool dynamic. Look out for metallic table legs, cabinet pulls and lighting fixtures.

Kelly says: “This combination works particularly well in transitional and modern spaces, where the interplay between these two metals creates visual interest without overwhelming the room.”

7. The New Pop of Red

The “pop of red” trend was all over TikTok. The idea is that small red accents—such as lamps and cushions—can elevate a space. In 2025, we believe that people will start getting bolder with red, moving towards full red walls and red sofas. As for the shade itself? Warm cherry and burgundy hues will replace the intense primary reds that dominated the trend.

Kelly says: “A softer red brings warmth and vibrancy, while making a striking yet welcoming statement in any room.”

Interior design trends are there to guide you, and help you create a home that feels fresh and modern. But as always, your space should feel like an extension of you, regardless of what’s popular. Don’t know where to start? Check out more of our interior design guides.
