Interview with The Designer: Coffee Table 04
Introducing the latest addition to our living room furniture collection: Coffee Table 04. To celebrate it's launch, we sat down with the brains behind the operation, Swyft designer André, to get to know it a bit better.
How does Coffee Table 04 differ from other Swyft coffee tables?
AF: Our previous coffee tables have a more classic wooden structure, whereas Coffee Table 04 introduces a slim metal frame, a two-tier structure for extra storage, and a raised lip detail that’s both practical and distinctive. It’s lighter in appearance but offers great functionality, making it a perfect fit for both small and large living spaces.
Can you talk us through the main design features?
AF: The raised lip on the tabletop is a signature element, it keeps items from sliding off while adding a distinctive design detail. The slim metal frame keeps it feeling light and modern, while the round shape works beautifully in both small and large spaces.
Why did you choose the specific materials and finishes?
AF: The mix of warm wood top with matte black metal frame creates a contrasting but balanced look. The veneer finish gives a natural texture while being durable for everyday use.
How did you go about choosing the size and proportions for Coffee Table 04?
AF:I wanted it to work well with sofas of different sizes, so the diameter is generous without dominating a room. The lower shelf is set back slightly to keep the design visually light.
Can Coffee Table 04 work in spaces beyond the living room?
AF: Absolutely. It works well in a lounge area, a large bedroom seating space, or even in a home office as a statement centrepiece.
What about Coffee Table 04 do you hope customers will like the most?
AF: The versatility, it’s a piece you can easily adapt as your needs or space change. Plus, that raised lip detail is one of those small design touches that makes it both practical and memorable.
