How to decorate for Easter

When you think about decorating for the holidays, Christmas is usually the first thing that comes to mind. But why wait until December when you can have a basket full of fun creating Easter decor, right in time for spring. Welcome the new season with beautifully curated, yet simple-to-make designs that’ll make your space feel great. Happy egg-hunting!

The main event

Easter table decoration

Everybody loves an Easter roast dinner with family and friends, and it’s made even more special when the table looks the part. Experiment with spring flowers like miniature daffodils, or even seasonal fruits for a pop of colour. Pastel colours help soften centrepiece items like fabric napkins and glassware- essentials for your guests. Tie the whole look together with a runner or tablecloth in a light colour or picnic-like gingham table cover to complete the setting.

 Easter-inspired wreaths

Who said wreaths should be reserved just for Christmas? We’re loving the idea of combining natural materials like willow and dried grasses with pastel colours of speckled eggs to create a real country feel. If you fancy giving it a go, Ideal Home have shared their guide to creating your own Easter wreath here. We reckon it makes for a great group craft project to do with friends.

 Time for talking

It goes without saying that your guests over the Easter holidays will all appreciate a comfy place to perch, before and after that all-important Sunday roast. Be prepared with any extra seating for guests, whether that means pulling out a couple of extra ottomans, or rearranging the living room with your modular sofa. Your guests will appreciate it!

 Spring scents

Spring is all about freshness and embracing the senses, which is why you should think about changing up the scents in your home. As the trees start to blossom, floral and natural scents of fresh cut lawn, linens and freesia offer up sweet, yet subtle fragrance for your home. Combine candles and diffusers of this scent with the delicious smell of freshly baked hot cross buns, and you’re on your way to outdoing the easter bunny himself.

 Fancy florals

This one’s a real showstopper, and pretty Instagram-worthy. If you have a bit more time on your hands, putting together a natural hanging decoration before Easter Sunday is guaranteed to wow your guests. Plus, you’ll be left with a beautiful centrepiece that should last well into May, or even longer if you choose to use dried flowers and stems.

Easter is on the Sunday 17th April 2022 this year. If you enjoyed this article, why not check out: spring cleaning: how to get your home ready, 10 pastel living room ideas, and our living room plants guide.
