6 Signs it’s Time to Upgrade Your Bed

Your bed is your sanctuary, the place that you sink into at the end of the day and wake up to set you up for the day. But no matter how much you love your bed, even the best ones don’t last forever. Over time, wear and tear can affect your comfort, support, and even your sleep quality.

If you’ve been wondering whether it’s time to upgrade your bed, here are the tell-tale signs to look out for.

1. You’re waking up achy

If your mornings start with back pain, neck stiffness, or sore shoulders, your bed might be the culprit. Over time, mattresses can lose their shape and stop supporting your body properly, leaving pressure points unrelieved. The right bed should help you wake up feeling refreshed, not like you need a helping of WD40.

2. You can see and feel the shape changing

A visible dip or lump in your mattress is a clear sign that it’s past its prime. Sagging can cause your spine to fall out of alignment whilst you sleep, causing discomfort and poor posture.

Tip: When shopping for a new mattress, look for one with high-density foam, reinforced edges, and zoned support to help future sagging. Investing in a high quality base or bedframe can help extend the life of your mattress, too.

3. It’s noisy

Creaks and squeaks every time you move are signs your bed frame might be on the way out. A sturdy, well-built frame not only supports your mattress but also ensures a quieter, more restful night’s sleep.

4. You’re tossing and turning all night

If you can’t seem to get comfortable and drift off, it might not be stress keeping you up. It could be your bed. An old mattress or poorly constructed bed frame can make it hard to find the right position to enable a restful night’s sleep.

5. It’s over 8 years old

Whilst high-quality beds last longer, most experts recommend replacing your mattress every 7-10 years. If your bed is slowly approaching its first decade, it’s time to start thinking about investing in a replacement.

6. You sleep better somewhere else

Ever found that you sleep better in hotel rooms or others’ houses? If other beds are giving you a better night’s sleep than your own, it’s best to let yours give up the ghost.

Your bed should be the place you sleep best, night after night. If you’re only getting that “cloud-like” feeling when you’re away from home, it’s worth considering an upgrade to a bed that matches (or beats) those hotel-level comfort standards.

A good night’s sleep is essential for your health, mood, and productivity, and it all starts with the right bed. Explore our bed collection and find your perfect upgrade here.
