After originally starting on Instagram, Glasgow-based Habiib is a curated shop of unique furniture and homeware pieces with a mid-century focus. Owner Laura has made it their mission to source the very best design-led furniture and decor. Expect to find a mix of everything from vases to vanity units, with regular ‘new in’ features on Habiib’s Instagram where it all started.
2. Bibelot Nook, Newcastle
Starting out in Newcastle-upon-Tyne’s infamous ‘flea circus’, Bibelot Nook now finds itself close by in Ouseburn. Bibelot, meaning a ‘small, decorative ornament or trinket’ lives up to its name, with a plethora of decor to discover in this shop. Visitors can expect to find plenty of homeware from vintage statement lights to teak cabinets at pocket-friendly prices.
3. Shush Interiors, Leeds
Nestled down a side street in Leeds city centre, Shush Interiors is a real hidden gem. Inside you’ll find real variety, with unique and unusual vintage home decor pieces to browse. Shush Interiors is a great mix of design classics, industrial decor, Danish furniture and contemporary art. On top of this, a personalised styling service is on hand to help you design your space with your new finds.
4. The Kelham Flea, Sheffield
Offering an eclectic mix of pre-loved treasures, The Kelham Flea in Neepsend Sheffield is a thrift shopper’s dream. Furniture pieces move fast here, so you’re guaranteed to find something new each time you visit. The Kelham Flea is a local favourite spot for mid-century decor, great deals on artwork and a vast collection of ever-changing vintage homeware.
5. Instiu, Manchester
Launching in 1984 originally as a reclaimed door and fireplace seller, Insitu has developed into one of Manchester’s top favourites for vintage materials. Located on the outskirts, this architectural salvage finds its home in a listed former pub building. Expect to find reclaimed stained glass, timber flooring and cast iron pieces - ideal for period renovation projects.
6. Moseley Vintage Hub, Birmingham
If you’re after mid-century modern furniture, this Birmingham-based hub is the place to be. Moseley Vintage Hub is a regular on the vintage fair circuit in the UK, sourcing unique mid-century finds of all shapes and sizes. Visit the hub’s showroom for plenty of teak dining tables, chests, cabinets and more. Plus, there’s a vinyl section for flicking through preloved records to your heart’s content.
7. The Old Cinema, London
Located in Chiswick, The Old Cinema is surprisingly large despite its unassuming front. Spread over three floors and covering 10,000 square ft, this hidden gem is a vast space filled to the brim with preloved homewares Open since 1978, this one-stop-shop really knows its stuff when it comes to antiques and vintage finds. Take your time browsing carefully curated collections from over 40 interior dealers.
8. Proper Old, London
Specialising in mid-century furniture, lighting and ceramics, Proper Old is a vibrant store that’s well worth visiting. This Dalston-based shop prides itself on affordable prices, so there’s something in here to suit every interior lover’s budget. Visit this independent to browse a curated collection of statement lamps, retro furniture and unique tableware pieces.
9. North Laine Bazaar, Brighton
Famed for its plethora of second-hand treasures, Brighton’s well known as a thrift shopper’s paradise. With 40 stalls of vintage interiors to explore, it’s easy to spend a whole day out at North Laine Bazaar. You’ll find everything from furniture to framed prints in this iconic location, with great deals available year-round.
10. The Vintage Furniture Flea, UK-wide
As the largest of its kind in the UK, The Vintage Furniture Flea brings together hundreds of stalls at regular events in London, Leeds and Bristol. Made up of a roster of regular traders, this touring event is a great chance to pick up unique retro decor, kitchenware and furniture. Expect to find lots of personally picked treasures, and leave with plenty of interior inspiration.
